TRESemmé & Jergens Made Me Lose My Hair!

I started noticing that I was losing more and more hair mid 2020. I have always lost some hair, which is normal but this was pretty large chunks. I wondered if I was overly stressed out or maybe my diet wasn’t as good as it was so I started eliminating things. No change. I then started researching and started seeing posts about DMDM hydantion and then even more about Tresemme. At this point I had been using Tresemme shampoo and conditioner for 3+ years.

DMDM Hydantoin is an ingredient in many TRESemmé products. My research shows that this is chemically similar to formaldehyde, a carcinogen that can cause a lot of symptoms including hair loss and cancer when it makes contact with your skin.

Once I knew how bad DMDM Hydantoin is for you, I started looking into the other products I use that touch my body. I found this in my Jergens Lotion. I have been using this lotion for over 6 years. I was disappointed with myself that I didn’t care enough to do more research. I have now and I want to share that with you!

What products do I use now?

  1. STOPPED using all products that have DMDM Hydantoin in it.
  2. Started using Pureology shampoo and conditioner – get it here
    1. Then switched to Costco shampoo & conditioner after 3 months – get it here
  3. Tried to repair the damage
    • Added rice water to my shower routine
    • Did a hair mask 1x a week for a couple of months. This is my favorite – get it here
  4. Sprayed my hair with Heritage Leave In Conditioner after each shower – get it here
  5. Added Argon Oil to my hair after each shower – get it here
  6. On days I wanted some curls, I used Curl Magic – get it here
