Recipe: Honey Garlic Chicken


  • 1 ½ lbs chicken breasts
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons chili paste or hot sauce of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Brown rice
  • Sesame seeds (toasted)
  • Green onion (chopped)


    1. Place chicken in your slow cooker.
    2. In a separate bowl whisk together garlic, honey, soy sauce, tomato paste, chili paste, and rice vinegar. Pour over chicken.
    3. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or HIGH for 2-3 hours.
    4. Remove the liquid from the crockpot and place it into a pot. Then whisk cornstarch into it. Cook on 5-10 minutes, until the sauce thickens a little. 
    5. Pour the thickened sauce over the chicken and mix.
    6. begin shredding the chicken.
    7. Serve over rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds and green onions.
