Movie Review: Total Recall (2012)

Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid, even though he’s got a beautiful wife who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen, the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter to find the head of the underground resistance and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.  Release Date: August 3rd, 2012

Stars:Colin Farrell, Bokeem Woodbine and Bryan Cranston

My Review:

Any time someone re-makes a film, people will always compare it to the original. If the original film did really well then the re-make tends to bomb at the theaters.  Part of that is because producers try to outdo the original film, which I think is a big mistake.  Instead, I believe Len Wiseman took the original and then made it his own by added different twists and turns. It wasn’t a carbon copy of the first one which, right there already makes the film worth seeing.  The premises of the movie is that Colin Farrell’s character, Douglas Quaid isn’t happy with his life, he goes to the same job every single day and he has zero excitement in his life.  I think to make this more believable, maybe he shouldn’t have be married to Kate Beckensale, because she is HOT! and not boring!…..anyways, one of his co-workers suggests that he goes to Rekall, where you can have the memory of a different life implanted in your head.   He decides to go and chooses the memory of a secret agent but a problem arises when the guy running the machine realizes that he already has memories of  being a spy.  He tries to shut down the machine but before you or Farrell’s character knows it, he has killed everyone in the room.  From this moment on, Farrell is being chased by….well just about everyone.  This is an action packed film that I highly recommend you watch.  I don’t want to go into anymore detail because not knowing the details will make this more exciting for you to watch.

Let me know what you think after you see it!!
