Thirty-something Captain Sam Cahill and his younger brother Tommy Cahill, are polar opposites. A Marine about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man married to his high school sweetheart, the aptly named Grace, with whom he has two young daughters. Tommy, his charismatic younger brother, is a drifter just out of jail who’s always gotten by on wit and charm. He slides easily into his role as family provocateur on his first night out of prison, at Sam’s farewell dinner with their parents, Elsie and Hank Cahill, a retired Marine. Shipped out to Afghanistan, Sam is presumed dead when his Black Hawk helicopter is shot down in the mountains. At home in suburbia, the Cahill family suddenly faces a shocking void, and Tommy tries to fill in for his brother by assuming newfound responsibility for himself, Grace, and the children. MY REVIEW: The movie started out really good right off the bat, I didn’t find too many slow spots, the movie just kept getting better and better. Usually when I watch a movie I can tell which direction a movie is going in and some are just completely predictable but not this one. When I thought the movie was going one way all of a sudden it would change and go somewhere totally different. The whole cast was amazing, I don’t think they could have picked a better group of people to play these characters. Tobey Maguire was scary good in this, he lost so much weight but only during the second half of the movie and that it made the movie a lot better because it seemed more realistic. I loved the story line it wasn’t like other movies you’ve seen with this plot like Pearl Harbor, you know the one guy dies and then the wife falls for a relative or “brother”, it was a different type of story and I loved it. I can’t wait to buy it on DVD and watch it again. My boyfriend really like it too and he’s very picky with movies.
